Stag Environmental Joins the Action at Taunton Racecourse for the 2025/26 National Hunt Season

Putting Polaris to the Test – Horsepower Meets Horse Power
To introduce Polaris UTVs to the horseracing community, we worked with McAlinden Racing to discover how one these utility vehicles can benefit modern equestrian facilities.
We headed to their base, some 1,300 feet above sea level on Exmoor, bringing the all-electric Polaris Ranger XP Kinetic. This cutting-edge UTV runs near-silent, produces zero emissions, and offers class-leading strength and torque — perfect for sensitive equestrian environments.
On the gallops, the Kinetic’s whisper-quiet performance let us get very close to the horses without spooking them. Not only did this allow us to get some awesome shots, but it gave us a rare chance to observe their movement and hear every stride and breath while they exercised, something that would be impossible with a traditional engine.
Capturing the Moment – Innovative Filming and Sound
We also tested some GoPro and audio equipment to create some immersive “gallop” content. A camera was mounted to the Ranger XP Kinetic facing the horses, while a microphone was attached to a horse’s bridle.
Our goal? To capture close-up footage of the horses in motion while recording their authentic breathing sounds — free from engine noise. This setup allowed connections to analyse the horse’s performance and wellbeing effectively without physically riding the horse themselves. The resulting footage could also be easily shared with owners, vets, or other interested parties, offering valuable insight into the horses’ work and recovery.
For our first trial, this was a huge success! Giving us crystal-clear footage and incredible audio, and we look forward to refining the approach further.
